Investigators seized a camera from the apartment of a missing crypto king which shows him walking into the building with his alleged killer – before he was found chopped up and stuffed down a toilet.
The body parts of Christian Peev, 41, who is an American citizen, were discovered by plumbers in a sewer after they were called to clear a blocked drain on Saturday in Sofia, Bulgaria.
But now investigators believe a crucial piece of evidence could shine a light on the victim’s death after suspect, Vesco Valchinov, was accused of chopping up his body and flushing some parts down the toilet.
Cops arrived at the block of flats on August 8 after checking the two phones of Christian which showed showed “all contacts he had on the day he was last seen were checked. One of them was with his friend Vesco Valchinov.”

But, crucially, a camera that was taken from the apartment shows the pair entering the building, which is the last time the crypto king was last seen. Police revealed: “A camera was seized from the block where the suspect lives and it was established that he and Christian entered the entrance in the late afternoon of August 8”.
Investigators said the next day the suspect went out alone and came back to the flat several times during the day but Christian was not seen. Another man, named Konstantin Subotinov, allegedly helped the killer hide the dismembered corpse of the victim.
After being detained by police, he reportedly admitted to helping hide the parts of the victim’s body by taking some of them with his car to Vitosha and burying them there. He buried the head and skeleton but the other parts were flushed down the toilet.
Valchinov was arrested after fleeing to a hotel in Vitosha, but his location was tracked on his phone and he was arrested on Sunday.
Prosecutors and the Ministry of the Interior held a joint press conference confirming that Christian’s cousin filed a report on August 10, confirming that he had disappeared two days earlier.
Christian Peev had graduated from a university in the US and built a fortune off of crypto investments. He was a regular visitor to high-society parties and events before he was murdered, and it is believed this is where he met his alleged killer, who was working as a bartender.
According to local media, police suspect that the motive of the murder is related to money as they believe that the former bartender was jealous of his friend after both investing in crypto.
The investigation is ongoing.
